God is Always Faithful
Thanksgiving 2010 had come and gone.
Countless hams, turkeys, and ducks had been devoured by an equally large number of Americans, who were pleased with themselves, because they felt they were showing their thankfulness with their usually large feasting.
Participants in the holiday festivities either bowed their heads in prayer or simply whispered a prayer of thanks from their hearts.
While most people were thankful to a certain degree, some were more visible in their display of thanks than others.
Sarah was truly thankful for her blessings. When she awoke the day after Thanksgiving, a prayer of gratitude flowed from her heart to the throne of God. It was a day that Sarah felt she would always remember.
As she awoke, Sarah prayed, “Heavenly Father, thank you for letting me see another beautiful sunrise. Thank you for food, clothing, shelter, a nice car and a wonderful family.
“Thank you most of all for the gift of eternal life that I have in the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you for the victory that is ours in His name, His power and His blood.”
During the day, Sarah experienced several victories, as well as a few defeats. When given an opportunity to witness, she failed to take advantage of that opportunity. She prayed and asked God to lead her boss to give her a raise. Then she expressed doubt to a co-worker, Sabrina, that she would get the raise. “It’s been over five years since I received a raise,” she complained. On her way home from work, Sarah accidentally cut off another driver, Sandra. When Sandra rolled down her window and began yelling, Sarah yelled back.
Sarah realized that she had not pleased the Lord. “Forgive me, Lord,” she prayed. “I have sinned and fallen short of your glory.”
“I forgive you, My Child,” said the Lord. “When my children confess their sins, I am faithful and just to forgive their sins.”
“Thank you for your faithful forgiveness,” said Sarah. “I promise that tomorrow will be a much better day. I’ll try as hard as I can not to let you down.”
True to her word, the following day was much better for Sarah. At every opportunity, Sarah glorified the Lord Jesus Christ.
Before she retired for the evening, Sarah went to God in prayer. “I praise you, Lord, for you are worthy to be praised,” she prayed. “The psalmist said, ‘I will look unto the hills from whence cometh mine help. My help cometh from the Lord which made heaven and earth.’ That’s what I did today, Lord. I looked to you for help, and you were right there for me.”
“I always keep my word to my children,” said the Lord. “I always keep my word to my children.”
“Especially when we don’t deserve it!,” said Sarah. “Especially when we don’t deserve it!”
