Foreword
The Divan of Love is a tribute to the great oriental poets of past times, who have not lost their fascination to this day.
Abu Nawas, Omar Khayyam, Rumi and Hafiz (probably the best known among us) still move us today with their wonderful poetry. They inspired famous intellectuals, poet princes, writers and philosophers in Europe and the USA.
Oriental poetry is known for its flowery language. While we often allow only one adjective to a description, in Oriental language we usually find enumerations, carried by synonyms, which make up the beauty of the object or subject. In the Koran alone, ninety-nine synonyms are listed for "God." They all express his absolute glory.
Goethe was fascinated by Hafiz. With his West-Eastern Divan, he honored that great Persian poet-prince who has not lost his fame and glory to this day.
His grave has become a lyrical pilgrimage site for all Iranian generations.

Rose
messenger of love
Spring buds
whispering in green foliage
whispering to the light
desire sprouts
Rose
love makeup
pearls dewy
on your face
Rose
morning breezes blowing
fluffed up in conversation
to a love poem
02.Ghasala
When the pain of loss hit me
You gave me Your strength to live on
When the embers of the fire took hold of me
You gave me water to quench my thirst
When the agony made me blind with love
You gave me light and clarity
When the gray of winter bared the leaves of life
You gave me comfort and confidence
When the angel lost his harp
His wings beat in the heavenly choir
When I searched for knowledge
Your heaven
gave me vibrating joy
devoted my whole heart to love
03.Ghasala
Spring, why are you still sleeping so long!
Hasn't the sun's loving glance awakened you?
Crocus and daffodil, messengers of first spring greetings
are ready for the light
every year newly colorful chosen
Flowers in the waiting loop, always ready
facing the sun, waiting tulip, colorful round dance
green earth is consecrated to the light
Birds sing sweet songs, take away winter's
its power: hailstorm, cold robe
on the earth of green meadows life is already waiting tensely
Dreams escape with confidence from heaven's heights to earth
voices that life speaks, yet soul cannot recognize
nor are you separated from the light
Am I in love with its longing, for I feel its power?
Do not whisper you high mights, yet sense your hiding places
of the moment camouflaged.
04 Ghasala
I have something in you:
the sun gives life
you inflame all the heavens
I have wiped the veil of sleep
from the eyes
I have something in you:
the morning enters the stage
nature applauds the day
I have served my heart sweet fruits
of ripened love.
I have something in you:
the glow fades behind the curtain
long shadows of trees shorten the day at its zenith
I have woven my longing with dreams
and look up to you in confidence
I have something in you:
the silence melts into stillness
the wings of love unfold
I have refreshed with splendor the wings of my soul
to seek out the closeness of your beauty
I was dazzled by so much day
I was lost in time
of love's duty
for in all I have and see only You

Emotionale Welten
