A Sea of Sunflowers
Thousands of yellow heads bobbing in the sun,
All the way down the slope,
Towards the Lac Léman.
They quietly agree
With all that’s said in the breeze.
And, when visited by bees,
Who come to nibble their oily seeds,
They chuckle, and they giggle,
And sometimes, they even sneeze.
Spreading their golden pollen
All over and about.
Next year a flower will grow
From a tiny sprout.
A sunflower is so tall,
And lean, and green, and proud.
Together they form
An amber army ready to charge.
Watch out for them now,
For they are at large!
